Mark C. Burgess


Mark has a civil practice that includes the areas of commercial litigation, personal injury, consumer, insurance coverage, class action and insurance bad faith litigation. He has practiced in Texarkana since 1992, when he graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Law in Little Rock, Arkansas. Mark obtained his undergraduate degree from Baylor University, in Waco, Texas, in 1987, where he received a B.B.A., with a double major in Finance and Management.


Mark is a member of both the Texas and Arkansas State Bars, and the Northeast Texas and American Bar Associations. He practices in both Arkansas and Texas State and Federal Courts, including all Federal District Courts in Arkansas and the Eastern, Southern and Northern Federal District Courts of Texas. Mark is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Trial Law and Personal Injury Trial Law. He is rated AV (best) by the Martindale-Hubbell attorney rating.  He was selected by his peers to the American Board of Trial Advocates.


Noteworthy recent cases:  Doris Forte, O.D., v. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., in the United States District Court, Southern District of Texas, Corpus Christi Division - case no. 07-CV-155; received jury verdict for Plaintiffs in the amount of $3.9 million for violations of the Texas Occupation Code by Wal-Mart.  Currently on Appeal to the Texas Supreme Court, No. 15-0146.


Lien Technologies, Inc. v. Arkansas Department of Finance & Administration, before the Arkansas Claims Commission, Claim no. 14-0631-CC;  received recovery of $250,000 for local business in contract dispute with the State of Arkansas.
